Re-Index WMV Files If an index is missing or corrupt conversion may stop abruptly before completion or the sound may be out of sync. The good news is that Microsoft has a set of tools that you can use to re-index and repair many damaged or otherwise faulty files. If you already have the encoder installed on your computer and find the interface too confusing, we have built a simple Windows Media Re-Indexer interface that you may find useful. To index a Windows Media file (WMV or ASF) use the Windows Media File Editor
If the preview panel is blank you'll need to download the correct Windows Media codec for your source file.
If the preview displays and the file can be played, from the main File menu select Save and Index or Save As and Index.
If the resulting file still cannot be converted open Windows Media Encoder, create a new session and load the troublesome file.
Save it to a new file name with parameters equal to the source.
The new file will be a completely recreated Media 9 Series compatible WMV file.
