DivX 3

Early DivX codecs are illegal hacked versions of the Microsoft MPEG-4 V3 codec. They are not supported by Microsoft for obvious reasons and they will crash Windows using DirectX 8 or higher. If you have either of these codecs on your computer you should remove them and install the new, backward compatible, DivX codec from DivX Networks, Inc. and set it during installation to play earlier versions. The people at DivX Networks, Inc. are excited about their product, conscientious and very open in their discussions.

We've seen a number of complaints published on the web stating that movies encoded with DivX 3 don't play properly with the DivX 4.12 or higher codec. We don't believe that to be true but if you find such a file the developers at DivX would like to see it so they can fix the problem.

Or you can email the clip to us and we'll forward it to DivX Networks.
