SeeHear! Help

To reduce the size of the download this is the only Help

SeeHear! can view all your DirectX supported image types, movies and audio files. SeeHear! can be launched from your programs menu or form Windows Explorer id you have the file extension associated. (More...)

If SeeHear! is running but is not playing a play list and you select a new media file the file will be loaded in the open instance of SeeHear!. If a play list is running a new instance of SeeHear! will be opened.

If you're having problems playing a particular file see the CODECs and Licensing topic below.

  • When Auto Play is enabled, SeeHear! will play the audio or video files in your play list and will display still images for the duration of your Auto Play Timer. The default on startup is 2 seconds.

You should not include loop forever animated GIF files in your play lists if you intend to use Auto Play with the play list.

  • Codecs and License issues

    • License encrypted files can only be played in the file's designated player.

    • To see MPEG-2 movies you need a DVD decoding software. If you don't already have an installed DVD decoder, you can purchase one for about $15.00. Ravisent, InterVideo, CyberLink sell DVD Decoder Packs over the Internet. Windows Media Technologies also lists third-party software vendors who have DVD Decoder Packs available.

    • To hear AC3 or Dolby audio you need a decoder such as the ffdshow filter.

    • To play Real Media you must have a Real Media codec from Real.com or an alternative.

    • To play QuickTime you must have a the QuickTime codecs from Apple.com or an alternative.

    • The XP Codec Pack from Free-Codecs.com includes a number of decoders and filters.

    • The K-Lite Codec Pack from Free-Codecs.com includes a number of popular codecs.

  • Play Lists are text files with the path to your media on each line.

    • Creating play lists is automatic. Each time you load a media file it will be added to your current play list. If you quit SeeHear! without saving the current play list any contents added in the current session will be lost.

    • Your play lists are saved in the same folder with SeeHear! by default but you can save them anywhere you want. The file extension is FXL.

    • Play lists can be loaded from the SeeHear! main menu or by double clicking on a SeeHear! play list (*.fxl) in Windows Explorer.

    • Animated GIF's with their loop property set to loop forever will not signal the player to change to the next media file and the animation will play forever. This cannot be over-ridden by setting the repeat loop to 1 in SeeHear!

    • To reorder the items in your play list, right click on the item that you want to move and select Move Up or Move Down.

  • Play Options

    • You can Play a Range of samples or frames.

    • You can vary the Playback Speed from 10% to 300%.

    • You can Repeat the play of a file in a Loop from 1 to 3000 time. The repeat time will not over-ride the repeat count property in animated GIF files. (This is only enabled when the Range Option is selected but you can play the whole file.)

  • How do I get rid of your advertising?

If there's no album art in the folder (folder.jpg) during audio file playback a random image is displayed from the sub folder "SeeHear\RandomImages\". You can change the files that are displayed using the "Manage Random Image Library" module from the main menu or you can delete from and copy files to the folder manually. Supported extensions are *.bmp;*.dib;*.gif;*.jpg;*.jpeg. Windows bitmaps are bigger but they scale better and display faster.

You can of course add an image file called folder.jpg to any folder that contains audio files to display that image instead. To fetch album art from Amazon.com use the free Album Art application.

  • View - You can change the size of the application window from the View menu.

To exit from full screen mode press the Esc key on your keyboard.

  • Video Zoom - You can change the zoom by right clicking on the display during video playback.

  • Album art

When music is being played from a play list, SeeHear will look in the folder where the audio file resides for a file named folder.jpg. If the file is there it will be displayed, otherwise a random image from your SeeHear\RandomImages\ folder will be displayed.
