Exercises Movies

In this exercise we'll create a new movie from a still image, several video clips from the internet and an MP3 audio file. We're going to take some extra steps to keep things clear. We've used Fx Joiner and Splitter for this but you can use any combination of software that can create a movie from still images, splice movies together and add audio to a silent movie.

http://www.fxjoinersplitter.com/

Create a folder called My Movies under the My Documents folder and download these files into your new folder:

011030-D-6570C-002.jpg

011030-D-6570C-003.mpg

011031-D-6570C-005.mpg

011031-D-6570C-007.mpg

011031-D-6570C-009.mpg

AirForce.mp3

Create a movie called title.avi from the JPG file. Setting the frame rate at 1 will leave the image on the screen for a second and 30 will just flash it. Experiment a bit to see how it works. You can create a file, play it then save again over-writing the original and play again to see the results of your change.

Now add the title and the MPEG files you downloaded, then save as a new MPEG movie. Try different setting to see how they change the output.

To add an audio track to your new movie select the movie you just created and the MP3 file you downloaded and save as NewMovieWithSound.avi.

Now let's convert the AVI to MPEG. You'll note that the MPEG file is much smaller than the AVI.

Here are the results:

NewMovie.MPG 5.2 MB

NewMovieWithSound.MPG 5.34 MB
